Director, Income Tax Advisory (International Tax Strategy)

About the role

Air Canada is seeking a Director of Income Tax Advisory to provide enterprise‑wide leadership on complex international tax strategy, corporate structuring, and major transformational transactions. The role supports global expansion, financing initiatives, acquisitions, and new business opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead tax strategy for major transactions, including global financings and refinancings.
• Define tax implications of international expansion, new routes, products, and non‑air initiatives.
• Design and implement efficient corporate structures to minimize effective tax rate and cash tax while ensuring compliance.
• Provide executive‑level counsel on tax risks and long‑term fiscal impacts.
• Represent Air Canada in negotiations with governmental and regulatory authorities.
• Lead the organization’s response to emerging international tax regimes such as Digital Services Taxes and Pillar Two.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Finance, Legal, Network Planning, Commercial, Loyalty, Operations, IT) and external advisors.
• Select, mandate, and supervise international tax advisors for global initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven enterprise‑wide leadership in international tax advisory.
• Ability to influence senior leadership without direct reports.
• Strong understanding of the airline industry or capacity to acquire it rapidly.
• Excellent judgment on strategic business models and tax risk mitigation.
