About the role
The Director of Asset Management provides strategic leadership for the organization’s asset portfolio, aligning asset strategies with corporate objectives to maximize financial performance, manage risk, and ensure long‑term sustainability. This senior role oversees portfolio performance, leads a dedicated asset management team, and works closely with senior executives and key stakeholders to drive value creation and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement asset management strategies and business plans that support financial, operational, and risk objectives.
- Oversee portfolio performance, monitor key metrics, benchmark results, and identify opportunities to enhance value and optimize returns.
- Lead financial analysis, modeling, budgeting, and forecasting to inform investment, divestment, and capital allocation decisions.
- Direct acquisition, disposition, and major improvement initiatives in partnership with investment, finance, operations, and legal teams.
- Establish and manage asset lifecycle plans covering planning, acquisition, operation, maintenance, renewal, or disposal to minimize total cost of ownership.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, reporting, and internal policy requirements related to asset management.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and performance management for the asset management team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Prepare and present portfolio performance reports, dashboards, and recommendations to executives, board members, investors, and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and property/plant management to align day‑to‑day activities with long‑term asset strategies.
- Identify and manage asset‑related risks and develop mitigation plans.
- Drive adoption of asset management systems, data analytics, and digital tools to support evidence‑based decision‑making.
- Build and maintain relationships with external partners such as lenders, investors, regulators, service providers, and community stakeholders.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, engineering, real estate, economics, or a related field; a master’s degree (MBA, MS, etc.) is preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Significant progressive experience in asset management, portfolio management, investment management, or a closely related field, including leadership responsibility.
- Proven track record of managing complex asset portfolios and delivering improved financial and operational performance.
- Experience in the relevant sector (e.g., real estate, infrastructure, manufacturing, utilities, financial services) as appropriate to the organization’s asset base.
