General Manager – Heavy Industrial Manufacturing

About the role

A well‑established U.S. manufacturing company is looking for an experienced General Manager to lead its heavy industrial plant in Monterrey, Mexico. The role reports directly to U.S. executive leadership and serves as the primary link between the Mexico operation and corporate headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership for all plant functions, including safety, production, quality, delivery and financial performance.
• Develop and execute strategic operating plans that meet production, cost, quality and delivery targets.
• Lead, coach and develop plant leadership teams across operations, engineering, quality, supply chain, maintenance and administration.
• Partner closely with U.S. leadership to align business priorities and performance expectations.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, cost control and capital investment decisions.
• Establish and monitor KPIs to drive operational excellence.
• Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar methodologies.
• Ensure compliance with labor, environmental, safety and regulatory requirements.
• Foster positive employee relations and maintain a highly engaged workforce.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, Operations Management or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in heavy industrial manufacturing.
• Prior experience as Plant Manager, General Manager, Operations Director or a comparable senior role.
• Experience working for a U.S.‑based manufacturing organization; experience in the United States strongly preferred.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, supply chain, quality systems and financial management.
• Proven ability to lead large teams and drive continuous‑improvement culture.
