Head of Purchasing

About the role

TRUMPF, a family‑run high‑tech leader with nearly 19,000 employees worldwide, is seeking a forward‑thinking Head of Purchasing. You will drive the purchasing strategy for both productive and non‑productive materials, ensuring optimal cost, quality and supplier performance across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Execute the purchasing strategy for productive and non‑productive materials.
• Coordinate communication between Quality, Planning, Engineering and Production to balance cost, quality and supplier performance.
• Evaluate quotations, manage bidding processes and analyse supplier performance for continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain professional relationships with suppliers.
• Prepare analytical reports and data insights to support strategic decision‑making.
• Train, supervise and manage assigned staff.
• Analyze inventory levels and collaborate with Planning to ensure efficient purchasing in SAP.
• Participate in cost‑reduction initiatives and continuous improvement strategies.
• Review purchase orders and payment processes, assisting in discrepancy resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree.
• Experience in supply chain management and supplier negotiation.
• Experience with raw materials and direct procurement.
• Basic knowledge of production planning, inventory control and shipping & logistics.
• Advanced knowledge of SAP.
• Advanced English proficiency.
• Strong communication and relationship‑management skills.
