Insurance Tax Manager

About the role

HSBC Seguros is seeking an experienced Insurance Tax Manager to lead its tax function in Mexico. You will provide strategic tax advisory to both the business and technology teams, ensuring correct tax treatment for products and transactions while maintaining compliance with all tax obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Define and review tax treatment for new and existing insurance products, delivering specifications to technology for accurate tax calculations.
• Prepare and present Effective Tax Rate, current and deferred tax analyses to the CFO.
• Manage compliance activities for Income Tax, VAT, SIPRED, informative returns, and IFRS tax reporting.
• Coordinate transfer pricing studies with external advisors and handle tax aspects of payments to foreign suppliers.
• Support external audits by providing tax calculations and related financial notes.
• Address queries from local and federal tax authorities and manage tax controversy matters, including appeals and agreements.
• Optimize tax compliance processes through technology and external vendor partnerships.
• Monitor new tax regulations, inform the business, and drive implementation requests.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of experience in tax advisory, compliance, and audits within the insurance sector.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics or related field.
• Experience in a Big 4 firm is desirable.
• Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and decision‑making abilities.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
