Lead Mechanical Engineer

About the role

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer on Wabtec’s Electric Rotating Machines team, you will design and develop electric motors and alternators for rail, off‑highway and drilling applications. You will work closely with cross‑functional global teams to deliver reliable, high‑performance machine topologies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform analysis, design, testing and integration of assigned components, assemblies or systems.
• Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers.
• Validate new components and sub‑assemblies, author and release drawings and specifications.
• Generate engineering documents such as DFMEA, design review materials, purchase specifications and technical presentations.
• Document and communicate results in accordance with engineering policies.
• Participate in technical and program reviews as presenter or reviewer.
• Lead new product introduction, reliability and productivity initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Legal authorization to work in Mexico.
• Ability to work in labs, workshops and office environments and lift up to 50 lb occasionally.

Required skills

• Mechanical design of motors and alternators.
• DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
• Preparation of design review materials and technical specifications.
