Machinist

About the role

Rockwell Automation is hiring an on-site Machinist in Tecate, Baja California, Mexico, reporting to the Modifications Supervisor. The role covers machine operation, setup, adjustment, rework and manufacturing across several production equipment and modification processes, working from technical drawings, process sheets, work instructions and electrical or mechanical diagrams.

Key responsibilities

• Operate manufacturing equipment such as Flexy Bars, tube fabrication, production rework, punching, stamping, painting and bending, plus other assigned operations.
• Perform complex machine setups, adjustments, changeovers and operational tasks.
• Support modification projects, rework activities and special manufacturing requirements.
• Read and interpret electrical diagrams, mechanical drawings, process instructions and blueprints.
• Identify basic equipment malfunctions and report issues to the Group Leader or Supervisor.
• Participate in training, cross-training, qualification and certification for new equipment and processes.
• Support continuous improvement, productivity, quality and waste reduction projects.
• Maintain clean work areas, follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment.

Required profile

• High school diploma or technical degree.
• Basic ability to read electrical diagrams, mechanical drawings and technical documentation.
• Ability to train and become certified in multiple machines and processes.
• Flexibility to support different operational areas as needed.
• Preferred: technical background in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical, electrical or mechatronics fields, familiarity with machine setup, and experience interpreting electrical, mechanical or pneumatic diagrams.

Required skills

• Following work instructions, procedures and quality standards.
• Basic computer and manufacturing documentation skills.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement or quality systems is preferred.
