Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

Magna Powertrain is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its global engineering team. You will contribute to the development of advanced powertrain components by creating detailed 3D models and 2D drawings while ensuring compliance with company and customer standards.

Key responsibilities

• Create and update 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings for components, sub‑assemblies, and full assemblies.
• Apply GD&T methodology and tolerance techniques consistently across all deliverables.
• Interpret engineering change orders and engineering notices to modify designs accordingly.
• Communicate design intent clearly through drawings and technical discussions.
• Collaborate with internal departments such as purchasing, quality, advanced manufacturing, and engineering change management.
• Generate concepts for new designs, evaluate product engineering, and propose improvements to existing designs.

Required profile

• Professional engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or related field).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar mechanical design role.
• Conversational level of English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with NX 1969, CATIA V5, and/or Pro/E (a plus).
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and dimensional tolerancing.
• Experience in mechanical component design and understanding of material properties.
