Mechanical Engineer

About the role

The Product Development and Test Engineering group at Qualcomm designs test solutions for ASIC validation and production. As a Mechanical Engineer you will create mechanical interfaces, CAD models and conduct structural and thermal analyses for advanced test platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design mechanical interfaces within the test platform ecosystem using 3D CAD tools.
• Create detailed CAD models and drawings for various IC package architectures.
• Perform system‑level structural and conjugate heat‑transfer analyses using ANSYS CFD/FEA.
• Develop and validate mechanical designs, ensuring compliance with GD&T standards.
• Conduct tolerance stack‑up analysis on complex assemblies.
• Utilize PLM tools (Agile) to manage design data and revisions.
• Support hardware validation with measurement equipment such as thermocouples, strain gauges, and calipers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master's preferred).
• 2+ years of hardware engineering design and validation experience.
• Proficiency with CAD tools (Creo Parametric, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor test cell technology and associated hardware.
• Solid background in mechanical design, GD&T (ASME Y14.5‑2009), and part fabrication techniques.
• Experience with structural mechanics, heat‑transfer physics, and electronics cooling principles.
• Hands‑on experience with ANSYS, NX, or SolidWorks analysis tools.
• Programming/scripting ability, preferably Python, for automation and data analysis.
• Familiarity with Agile PLM and measurement instrumentation.
