Plant Environmental Control Engineer

About the role

Ford's Environmental Quality Office is seeking an Environmental Engineer on a temporary six‑month contract to cover a maternity leave. The role provides technical and regulatory support for environmental media such as air, water, wastewater, waste, tanks and remediation within a global automotive manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and regulatory support for one or more environmental media (air, water, wastewater, waste, tanks, etc.) and related systems such as ISO 14001 and the Environmental Operating System.
• Develop and submit correspondence, reports and permit applications to ensure site compliance and support remediation projects.
• Track progress and spending on environmental capital and expense projects, ensuring timely and on‑budget delivery.
• Utilize environmental software tools (ICSM, I‑Points, Business Objects, SharePoint, E‑tracker, modeling software) to meet business objectives.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of national, regional and local environmental regulations and represent Ford in interactions with regulatory agencies and community groups.
• Support facility and product programs through permit actions, capacity planning studies and project funding requests.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Engineering.
• 1 to 3 years of experience in environmental engineering, regulatory compliance or a related field.
• Strong written and oral English communication skills.
• Fundamental understanding of environmental rules and regulations.
