Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse – Full Time

About the role

This full‑time position provides nursing care to patients undergoing same‑day surgery in a Pre‑Op/PACU setting. The RN is responsible for delivering safe, evidence‑based care from admission through discharge, following physician orders and facility policies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the provision of nursing care to patients in a same‑day surgery environment.
• Assume total responsibility for patient care in accordance with physician orders and center policies.
• Monitor and control the use and charging of supplies utilized in the center.
• Assess, develop, and implement comprehensive nursing care plans for post‑operative patients.
• Administer medications and treatments ordered by physicians, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to ordering protocols.
• Discharge post‑operative patients according to facility policies, providing pain and nausea management as needed.
• Maintain patient and employee privacy and confidentiality.
• Provide psychological support to patients and families.
• Coordinate with physicians and external departments (e.g., radiology) for patient care.
• Perform routine charging of medications and supplies and verify charge sheets.
• Function independently in emergency situations, making quick, sound decisions.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse license.
• Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) is a plus.
• Commitment to continuing education and meeting CEU requirements for re‑licensure.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Knowledge of ASC operations and post‑operative patient care.
