Principal Engineer I – Process Engineering

About the role

Visteon is seeking a Principal Engineer I in Process Engineering to drive quality, efficiency and continuous improvement on SMT lines. You will support SMD placement lines, ensure compliance with IATF16949, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 standards, and lead efforts to reduce downtime and scrap.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and improve line KPIs, focusing on downtime, scrap, and first‑time‑through yield.
• Develop and validate processes for new products, including ECN and TCS updates.
• Lead 8D problem‑solving for internal and external quality issues.
• Maintain and program AOI, SPI and X‑ray inspection equipment.
• Support laser marker, DEK stencil and tooling operations.
• Ensure documentation is up‑to‑date and traceability is maintained.
• Collaborate with plant and operations managers to meet plant objectives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in SMT process engineering and surface‑mount equipment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, GR&R, Cpk analysis and DOE.
• Familiarity with IATF16949, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to lead continuous‑improvement projects and root‑cause analysis.
• Excellent collaboration, critical‑thinking and result‑orientation.
