Principal Statistical Programmer – Hybrid (Mexico City)

About the role

Alcon is seeking a Principal Statistical Programmer to join its Analytics & Intelligence team in Mexico City. This senior position will lead statistical programming activities for clinical studies, ensuring high‑quality, timely, and cost‑effective deliverables while collaborating closely with trial statisticians and cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review programming dataset specifications for assigned studies.
• Coordinate the work of all programmers on a study, providing inputs, guidance, and oversight.
• Resolve programming issues and implement efficient solutions.
• Maintain effective relationships with cross‑functional teams and communicate project status, risks, and mitigation plans.
• Contribute to the evolution of statistical programming standards, processes, and knowledge‑sharing initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with GxP regulations, SOPs, and documentation requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or a related field.
• 8‑10 years of experience in statistical programming within the pharmaceutical or medical device industry.
• 2‑3 years of experience leading programming activities on clinical studies.
• Strong understanding of CDISC standards (SDTM, ADaM) and regulatory requirements (GCP, ICH).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

Required skills

• SAS programming, including macro development.
• CDISC implementation (SDTM, ADaM).
• Experience with GCP and ICH guidelines as they relate to statistical programming.
