Product Development Engineer II - Construction Toys

About the role

Mattel Brick Shop is looking for a Product Development Engineer II to support the development of construction toy products from concept through production. You will work closely with Product Development, Design, Quality, Packaging and Manufacturing teams to ensure products meet requirements for quality, performance, manufacturability and cost, and to support successful launches.

Key responsibilities

• Support engineering development of construction toy products from concept through production launch.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, suppliers and manufacturing partners throughout development.
• Assist in Engineering Pilot (EP) and Final Engineering Pilot (FEP) builds, identifying and resolving technical issues before production.
• Manage prototype and production sample builds, incorporating design, engineering and quality feedback.
• Review engineering documentation, drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for accuracy and completeness.
• Support tooling development, mold qualification and production readiness activities.
• Track project milestones and follow up on action items to support on-time delivery.
• Partner with Quality and Manufacturing teams on product approvals and production sign-off.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives on product quality, cost and manufacturing efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• 2+ years of experience in product engineering, product development, building set development or a related industry.
• Understanding of product development and manufacturing processes.
• Fluent in both English and Spanish.
• Willingness to travel internationally, including Asia, as required.

Required skills

• Knowledge of plastic part design, tooling and injection molding is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and engineering drawing/CAD tools.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational and communication skills.
