Product Sustaining Engineer – Mechanical

About the role

Hunter Douglas is seeking a Product Sustaining Engineer to support the full lifecycle of its consumer window fashion products. Based in Apodaca, Nuevo León, you will apply hands‑on mechanical engineering expertise to resolve quality issues, improve manufacturability, and ensure long‑term product robustness.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze mechanical components, mechanisms and assemblies to identify design weaknesses and quality failures.
• Modify and support existing products to maintain safety, durability and performance.
• Design and refine parts using SolidWorks, supporting injection molding, extrusions and mechanical assemblies.
• Develop and execute test methods, validation plans and safety assessments.
• Lead root‑cause investigations for non‑conforming materials or processes and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate prototype and test builds, ensuring design‑for‑manufacturability with fabrication and production teams.
• Conduct design reviews, tolerance stack‑up analyses, FMEA assessments and statistical data validation following Six Sigma principles.

Required profile

• Mechanical engineering background with a strong focus on product development and sustainment.
• Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with manufacturing, supply chain and product management.
• Data‑driven mindset with experience improving operational KPIs related to quality, cost and time‑to‑market.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (parametric 3D CAD)
• Mechanical design for injection molding, extrusion and assembly
