R&D Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

ABB is looking for an R&D Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Electrification Distribution Solutions division in San Luis Potosi. You will be the first point of contact for product‑related issues, driving innovative mechanical and electrical design solutions for our electrical products.

Key responsibilities

• Lead or contribute to R&D projects developing mechanical and electrical designs for electrical products.
• Guide junior team members and act as a project leader or member on quality improvement initiatives.
• Identify, propose, and implement innovative solutions to improve product quality and processes.
• Prepare well‑structured technical reports and provide consulting support to business operations and customers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Electro‑mechanical or Robotics engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in 3D mechanical design.
• Advanced English proficiency.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (including sheet‑metal module).
• Experience with electrical product integration (MCC, Switchgear).
• PLM tools – preferably Windchill.
• 3D mechanical design and drafting.
