School Cleaner – Daily Maintenance

About the role

The School Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment across all school facilities. This role supports the wellbeing of students and staff by ensuring daily cleaning standards are met and any incidents are addressed promptly.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting surfaces, and polishing floors.
• Maintain restrooms by cleaning, disinfecting fixtures, and replenishing supplies.
• Sanitize high‑touch areas (door handles, light switches, handrails) regularly to prevent germ spread.
• Execute scheduled deep‑cleaning duties, including carpet cleaning, window washing, and floor stripping/waxing.
• Handle spills and accidents safely, report maintenance issues, and restock cleaning supplies.
• Follow health and safety protocols, use personal protective equipment, and report any chemical hazards.

Required profile

• No formal education required; basic literacy and numeracy are helpful.
• Previous cleaning or janitorial experience, preferably in a school or childcare setting.
• Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and strong time‑management skills to complete tasks within allocated periods.
