Senior Accountant – GL & Mexican GAAP

About the role

Shiji is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead general ledger accounting for its Mexican entity. The role ensures compliance with Mexican GAAP, supports cross‑border finance activities, and partners with audit and tax teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage GL accounting under Mexican GAAP and group policies.
• Prepare and post journal entries and lead month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Reconcile balance‑sheet and P&L accounts, resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and act as primary audit contact.
• Coordinate with U.S. and Europe finance teams on cross‑border reporting and accounting.
• Ensure statutory tax filings, reporting requirements and internal controls for Mexico.
• Identify and drive process‑improvement and automation initiatives within the GL function.
• Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and tax advisors to maintain accurate records.

Required profile

• 5–7 years of accounting experience, including GL responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of Mexican GAAP (NIF).
• Proficiency with ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Navision.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent written and spoken Spanish and English.
• Detail‑oriented, proactive and able to work independently across time zones.
