Senior Backend Engineer – Node.js & AWS Serverless

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design and deliver Backend‑for‑Frontend (BFF) services that power modern web and mobile applications. The role is hybrid and can be based in Guadalajara, Mexico City, Monterrey or Querétaro, working within Cognizant’s inclusive and innovative culture.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain BFF services using Node.js and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
• Build and optimise REST and GraphQL APIs for frontend consumption.
• Implement serverless solutions on AWS, primarily using Lambda and related services.
• Create and manage CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code with GitLab CI/CD and GitLab Actions.
• Ensure scalability, security, observability and performance of backend services.
• Collaborate closely with frontend, product and architecture teams to deliver high‑quality solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong expertise in Node.js, JavaScript (ES6+) and API design.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS serverless technologies such as Lambda.
• Proven ability to implement CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
• Advanced English proficiency.
