Senior Controller – Hospitality Finance

About the role

Howard is seeking a Senior Controller to lead the financial operations of its hospitality portfolio, which includes hotels, restaurants, and multi‑unit operators. You will partner with the Accounting Director to transform disorganized books into reliable, timely reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full month‑end close cycle for assigned clients, reconciling accounts and reviewing journal entries.
• Prepare accurate monthly P&L statements, cash‑flow summaries, and departmental reports tailored to hospitality operators.
• Manage complex payroll structures for tipped employees, multiple departments, and seasonal staff, ensuring all filings are completed on time.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, communicating clearly and setting expectations.
• Document workflows, build checklists and SOPs, and reduce reliance on institutional knowledge.

Required profile

• 5–8 years of accounting experience, including at least 2 years in the hospitality sector.
• Strong command of GAAP and multi‑entity accounting.
• Exceptional attention to detail and clear written communication.
• Proactive mindset – identify and fix issues before they become problems.
