Senior Engineer – Observability Engineering

About the role

Levi Strauss & Co. is looking for a Senior Engineer to join its Observability Engineering team within the Shared Platform & Services Technology organization. The role focuses on delivering end‑to‑end visibility, AI‑driven insights, and operational excellence across the company’s digital ecosystem, helping engineering squads detect, diagnose, and resolve issues faster.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain observability solutions covering metrics, logs, traces, synthetic monitoring, real‑user monitoring (RUM) and business telemetry using New Relic and modern cloud‑native services.
• Develop and enforce instrumentation standards for microservices, APIs, front‑end and legacy systems across hybrid‑cloud environments.
• Leverage AI‑powered observability and AIOps platforms to enable intelligent anomaly detection, predictive alerting, automated root‑cause analysis and self‑healing workflows.
• Integrate observability into CI/CD and GitOps pipelines, creating automated monitoring, alerting and feedback loops.
• Lead cross‑functional collaboration with platform, Developer Velocity and application teams to establish scalable monitoring architectures and operational best practices.
• Evaluate, select and pilot new observability tools and technologies.

Required profile

• Proven expertise in AI‑driven observability and AIOps solutions.
• Strong background in building monitoring for microservices, APIs and hybrid‑cloud environments.
• Experience working with cross‑functional engineering teams and driving adoption of best‑in‑class observability practices.
• Ability to translate complex data into actionable insights for engineering squads.
