Senior Legal Counsel – Corporate & Operations

About the role

Fresnillo plc, a leading global silver and gold producer, is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join its Legal & Corporate Affairs team in Mexico City. The role provides strategic legal support across corporate, commercial, governance, regulatory and operational matters within a multinational listed‑company environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day legal advice to corporate and operational teams.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements such as procurement, services, confidentiality, technology, construction and strategic partnership contracts.
• Support corporate governance for a FTSE 100 and Mexican listed company, including board and committee processes, policies and regulatory disclosures.
• Assist in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financing transactions and corporate restructurings.
• Coordinate and supervise external counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
• Manage litigation and dispute‑resolution strategy with internal stakeholders and external advisors.
• Prepare executive summaries, legal memoranda and presentations for senior management and board audiences.
• Support strategic projects involving international operations, sustainability initiatives and business development.

Required profile

• Law degree from a recognized university; LL.M. from a U.S. or U.K. law school.
• 5–12 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in a top‑tier law firm or multinational company.
• Strong background in corporate, commercial and transactional matters.
• Experience supporting listed companies, preferably in mining, energy, infrastructure or industrial sectors.
• Excellent drafting, analytical and negotiation abilities.
• Ability to manage complex matters with sound judgment and practical business orientation.
