Staff TAX VAT Analyst

About the role

The Staff TAX VAT Analyst will ensure full compliance with Mexico's indirect tax obligations, including VAT, IEPS and DIOT, while driving automation and digital transformation within the tax function. The role blends deep knowledge of Mexican tax law with strong analytical and data‑driven capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and file monthly and annual indirect tax returns and informative declarations with SAT.
• Validate and reconcile electronic invoices (CFDI) to guarantee correct tax classification.
• Support VAT credit, refund and offset processes with tax authorities.
• Monitor legislative changes and assess impact on reporting and operations.
• Identify manual tax processes and design automated workflows using data‑preparation and integration tools.
• Build and maintain dashboards to monitor compliance status, detect anomalies and provide real‑time risk visibility.
• Apply AI/ML techniques such as anomaly detection, natural‑language tax research and predictive analytics to strengthen controls.
• Collaborate with Finance, IT and business units to standardise processes and document automation opportunities.
• Provide audit support by preparing documentation and analysis for tax authority inquiries.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field.
• Professional experience with Mexican indirect tax compliance (VAT, IEPS, DIOT).
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to translate tax rules into automated solutions.
• Excellent communication skills to work with cross‑functional teams.
