Tax Manager

About the role

Syngenta is seeking a Tax Manager to lead its Mexico tax function. Based in Mexico City, you will ensure compliance, develop tax strategy and support the business across a range of corporate initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and own the Mexico tax function, ensuring robust compliance and strengthening tax strategy, governance and risk management.
• Collaborate with local Business and Finance teams and with regional/global Group Tax, including Transfer Pricing and Tax Reporting.
• Monitor and manage profit levels of Mexican Syngenta entities in coordination with the global Transfer Pricing team.
• Implement global tax strategy and risk management frameworks locally, identifying enhancement opportunities.
• Support Head of Tax on corporate projects such as M&A, APA filings, divestments, capital injections and dividend distributions.
• Represent Group Tax in leadership meetings, risk committees and senior management forums.
• Monitor regulatory and business developments to ensure compliance and mitigate tax risks.
• Support tax audits and litigations and maintain strong relationships with local tax authorities and advisors.
• Build, lead and develop a Mexican tax team that provides value‑added advice while maintaining high compliance standards.

Required profile

• Expert knowledge of the Mexican tax system, preferably gained at a Big 4 firm, combined with in‑house experience in a multinational corporation.
• Strong understanding of finance, statutory accounting and tax reporting processes, including related operational systems and data requirements.
• Experience in the agribusiness sector is advantageous.
