Tax Manager

About the role

The Tax Manager will lead corporate tax reporting and compliance for HSBC legal entities, ensuring governance, accuracy and timely delivery of tax filings under IFRS. The role combines technical tax expertise with process optimisation and stakeholder collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit corporate tax reports (current, deferred, taxes paid/collected, effective tax rate) for all HSBC entities.
• Provide detailed balance‑sheet commentary and explanations for tax movements.
• Determine ETR and deferred income tax for local and IFRS reporting via the Saracen system.
• Forecast current and deferred tax for capital planning, stress testing and internal projections.
• Respond to external auditor requests on tax matters.
• Drive process optimisation, working‑paper improvements and automation initiatives.
• Participate in special projects such as mergers, restructurings and tax‑balance recoveries.
• Monitor and manage tax risks across the organisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics or related field (preferred).
• 5+ years of tax experience, preferably in international services or financial services.
• Intermediate English proficiency.
• Strong attention to detail, resilience and ability to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, complex formulas).
• Data analysis tools for tax reporting.
• Knowledge of IFRS tax reporting and deferred tax calculations.
• Familiarity with tax reporting systems (e.g., Saracen).
