Upper School History Teacher

About the role

We are seeking an Upper School History Teacher to deliver engaging, rigorous instruction to students aged 11‑18. The role focuses on developing critical thinking, historical inquiry and helping learners connect past events to the present.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver well‑structured history lessons aligned with curriculum standards.
• Teach a range of historical periods, themes and geographical areas.
• Develop students’ analytical skills through source interpretation and argumentation.
• Assess, monitor and report on student progress via assignments, exams and feedback.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
• Incorporate varied teaching methods, including discussions, projects and technology.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive and disciplined classroom environment.
• Prepare students for internal and external examinations where applicable.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum planning and interdisciplinary projects.
• Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about student progress.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in History or related field (required).
• Teaching qualification or state teaching license (or equivalent).
• Master’s degree in History or Education (often preferred).
• Prior teaching experience at middle or high school level (preferred).
• Experience with curriculum planning and assessment design.
• Familiarity with educational technology and digital learning tools.
