Associate Researcher / Staff Consultant – Transport Decarbonization (Mexico)

About the role

The ICCT is seeking a full‑time consultant to support transport decarbonisation policies for light‑duty vehicles in Mexico and to contribute to other Latin‑American projects. The position is based in Mexico City and works remotely with the global ICCT team.

Key responsibilities

• Perform high‑quality research to develop and implement regulations limiting environmental impacts of light‑duty vehicles, including electrification strategies.
• Collect data and conduct quantitative analyses using Excel, Python, R or similar tools on conventional and zero‑emission vehicle performance and market evolution in Mexico and Latin America.
• Develop and maintain deep expertise in a specific technology, modeling, or policy area and serve as a resource for ICCT staff.
• Author or co‑author publications such as blogs, briefing papers, working papers and white papers.
• Prepare presentations and present findings in public workshops, conferences and private regulatory working groups.

Required profile

• M.S. or Ph.D. in engineering, environmental sciences or related field with 2‑4 years of research or work experience.
• Strong technical understanding of air quality, climate change and transportation emissions, especially vehicle and fuel regulations in Mexico.
• Excellent quantitative, analytical, research and organizational skills, with strong written and verbal communication in English and Spanish.
• Ability to work independently, highly organized and strategic in problem‑solving.

• Compensation of $33.46 USD/hour for Associate Researchers or $41.36 USD/hour for Researchers.
