Automation, AI & Software Engineer

About the role

ABB is looking for an Automation, AI & Software Engineer to design, develop and implement digital solutions that boost the efficiency, quality and scalability of the Proposals Engineering processes. You will work closely with the Proposal team to eliminate repetitive tasks, optimise workflows and drive continuous operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Identify manual, repetitive and inefficient processes within the Proposal organisation and create software solutions to improve productivity and user experience.
• Develop automation tools, desktop applications and AI‑enabled solutions for proposal generation, document processing and workflow optimisation.
• Design and implement integrations between enterprise platforms, databases and business applications using modern programming languages, APIs, cloud services and automation technologies.
• Partner with Proposal Engineers and business stakeholders to translate operational challenges into scalable digital solutions.
• Apply software‑engineering best practices, ensuring solutions are secure, maintainable, well‑documented and compliant with ABB cybersecurity and quality standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Software Development Engineering, Mechatronics or Electronics.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in object‑oriented programming (Python preferred; VBA and C# desirable).
• Proficiency with SQL, Azure DevOps and database management.
• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps).
• Background in desktop automation development and application development.
• Fundamental knowledge of AI and machine‑learning concepts.
• Advanced level of English.
