Brake Performance Certification Engineer Jr

About the role

ALTEN Mexico, a subsidiary of the ALTEN Group, is looking for a Junior Brake Performance Certification Engineer in Querétaro. The role ensures that braking systems comply with international safety standards and regulations, working with cross-functional teams to run brake performance tests, analyze the results and prepare certification documents, while collaborating with external certification authorities.

Key responsibilities

• Support the full functional integration of vacuum-boosted and electrically boosted brake systems and manage/validate them to system level.
• Manage and validate the Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) and regulatory requirements (NAFTA, ECE, GCC/GSO compliance and conformance of production).
• Carry out DV and certification tests using link data acquisition systems at Chelsea Proving Grounds (CPG).
• Help coordinate and plan testing at CPG and Arizona Proving Grounds (APG) to meet program milestones.
• Oversee test equipment setup, process post-test data and analyze it to ensure test accuracy.
• Develop reports on potential compliance issues and issue documents supporting final compliance reports.
• Support brake system development, vehicle ordering, builds, shipping and testing, and help resolve quality and build issues with corrective actions.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering; Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
• 0 to 2 years of experience.
• Knowledge of vehicle-level system design and validation, and of brake system performance and sizing modeling/analysis.
• Experience with DFMEA/SFMEA and DVP-R (write, review, execute).
• Proven problem-solving skills (e.g., Shainin, DFSS, Red X) and analytical skills.
• Brake testing or chassis development experience is a plus; vehicle testing experience is a plus.
