Buyer – Component Cost Estimation & Supplier Management

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Buyer to lead component cost estimation and supplier management for new product designs. The role combines analytical cost work with hands‑on negotiation and partnership development to ensure cost‑effective, high‑quality components.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and estimate component costs for new product designs, applying BOM costing, should‑cost and other cost‑analysis methods.
• Lead RFQ processes, preparing specifications, issuing requests, and evaluating supplier quotations.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts and terms with suppliers to achieve competitive rates while maintaining quality standards.
• Develop and implement supplier development strategies to strengthen relationships and improve supply‑chain efficiency.
• Manage ongoing supplier relationships, resolve issues, and ensure timely delivery of components for design projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing RFQs in engineering or manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of component cost estimation methodologies such as BOM costing, should‑costing and cost analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and drive mutually beneficial outcomes.
• Experience in supplier development and performance management.
