Buyer – Direct and Indirect Procurement

About the role

The Plant Buyer supports plant operations by managing all purchasing functions to ensure a continuous supply of materials and supplies while minimizing inventory costs. This role also contributes to corporate initiatives through comprehensive reporting on supplier performance, contracts, and spend analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Issue purchase orders, update delivery dates, and reconcile order acknowledgements.
• Act as the point of resolution for direct material supplier issues, escalating when necessary.
• Build and maintain supplier relationships to streamline escalations and issue resolution.
• Maintain purchasing records, resolve invoice discrepancies, and coordinate supplier onboarding.
• Research and quote alternate products and services, prepare bid packages, and manage contracts.
• Develop and maintain a database of customer stocking agreements.
• Perform reporting and spend analysis to support cost‑reduction and contract renewal goals.
• Ensure contract compliance and lead cross‑functional projects.
• Communicate project status and cost‑saving initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a business‑related field or equivalent.
• Minimum 2–3 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment (5+ years overall purchasing or related experience).
• Experience pulling data and creating reports in an ERP system (preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and advanced Excel for data analysis.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
• 1–2 years of team‑leadership experience (leading non‑direct reports).
• CPM or CPSM certification preferred.
• Fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
