Consultant – Material Management & Automotive Supply Chain

About the role

This consultancy position focuses on monitoring and managing material shortages, backlogs, and supplier delivery risks within the automotive supply chain. You will work closely with multiple suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure production continuity and timely deliveries.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor material shortages, backlogs and supplier delivery risks for purchased parts and sub‑components.
• Coordinate up to 10 suppliers simultaneously during critical shortage situations.
• Analyse supplier constraints such as capacity, manpower, material availability, equipment limits and logistics bottlenecks.
• Review Bill of Materials, part structures, demand signals, release schedules and supplier commitments.
• Evaluate material coverage including inventory levels, safety stock, pipeline inventory and consumption rates.
• Support suppliers in defining and executing recovery plans to close gaps between demand and capacity.
• Validate supplier production capability using cycle time, shifts, headcount, OEE and output data.
• Lead daily follow‑up meetings, coordinate corrective actions and track shipment plans, ASN status and recovery milestones.
• Prepare status reports, dashboards, escalation summaries and management updates.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of experience in automotive supply chain, material planning, logistics or production planning.
• Previous work with OEMs, Tier 1/2 or commercial vehicle suppliers.
• Strong background in material shortage management, supplier escalation and production recovery.
• Experience handling multiple suppliers and critical topics in parallel.
• Solid understanding of automotive production environments, JIT/JIS delivery and strict scheduling.
• Proven ability to interact with cross‑functional teams (purchasing, logistics, production, quality, engineering, program management).
