Controller – Accounting & Finance Lead

About the role

We are a fast‑growing private youth sports operator in the Greater Toronto Area seeking a detail‑oriented Controller to own our accounting function end‑to‑end. You will manage month‑end close, financial reporting and internal controls while supporting strategic decisions across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Perform full‑cycle bookkeeping including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and bank reconciliations in QuickBooks Online.
• Process semi‑monthly payroll using Wagepoint and Square.
• Manage invoicing, vendor payments and staff expense reimbursements.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and variance analyses.
• Develop and maintain internal controls, ensure GAAP compliance and coordinate audits, tax filings and regulatory reporting.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and provide insights to the CFO and department leaders.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Experience with full‑cycle accounting in a remote or distributed team environment.
• High degree of accuracy, integrity and attention to detail.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
