About the role
Aptiv is seeking a Controls Engineer to lead the development and integration of automation systems for new automotive manufacturing projects. You will work on PLC, HMI, and SCADA solutions, ensuring they meet customer requirements and support high‑volume production.
Key responsibilities
- Manage controls and software aspects of new project launches.
- Design, program, and improve PLC, HMI and automation system applications.
- Develop integration concepts for automation equipment and support early manufacturing concept development.
- Participate in machine and tool design reviews, cost estimating and process management reviews.
- Maintain and update electrical/mechanical drawings and provide troubleshooting support for legacy equipment.
- Ensure compliance with customer‑specific requirements (QCI, KPC) and keep projects on schedule.
- Lead continuous‑improvement actions and monitor key performance indicators.
- Collaborate with multiple departments to release manufacturing cells and manage engineering changes.
Required profile
- Degree or equivalent experience in Mechatronics, Electromechanical, Electronics, or Software Engineering.
- High level of English proficiency (minimum 80%).
- Strong problem‑solving abilities and experience interpreting technical drawings and GD&T.
- Ability to work independently, motivate teams and manage project timelines.
- Familiarity with component manufacturing processes such as plastic molding, stamping and machining.
Required skills
- PLC programming on Rockwell, Siemens and Allen‑Bradley platforms.
- SCADA system development.
- Inspection system integration (Keyence, Cognex).
- Silicon/adhesive dispensing programming (PVA, Nordson).
- Leak testing equipment knowledge (Cincinnati).
- Electrical testing (Cirris), high‑pot and low‑voltage testing.
- Laser marking/etching (DMC).
- Servo motor and drive configuration (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens).
- Statistical process control and MSA.
- HMI development and I/O tracking with sensors and networks.
- Robot selection for assembly (Epson).
- Terminal/pin bending and singulation using stamping dies.
- CAD modeling in NX and SolidWorks.
