Cost Accountant – Manufacturing Finance

About the role

The Cost Accountant will support the plant’s financial operations by managing cost analysis, inventory valuation, and asset accounting. This position works closely with plant departments to ensure accurate costing, compliance, and timely financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Cost raw materials and finished goods under PO contracts and plant‑approved rates.
• Perform monthly analysis of cost buckets, scrap, markup, and fixed costs.
• Review inventory transactions, communicate implications, and train plant staff on processes.
• Reconcile weekly and monthly plant sales and manage asset capitalizations, transfers, and disposals.
• Coordinate bi‑annual fixed‑asset inventory and ensure policy compliance.
• Review and resolve AR debits; assist controller with debit‑note reviews.
• Prepare month‑end costing reports, manual customer invoices, and budget templates.
• Support risk‑compliance matrix testing and educate action owners.
• Execute AP and AR reconciliations, accruals, journal entries, and balance‑sheet sub‑ledger reconciliations.
• Develop internal control documentation.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work at a personal computer for extended periods.
• Willingness to travel to plant sites.
• Capability to lift and carry up to 15 lb occasionally.
• Experience in an automotive components manufacturing environment is preferred.
