Customs Professional – Regional Operations & Compliance

About the role

This position supports the Taxes & Customs organization for the North Andina & South America region from Mexico. The Customs Professional will manage daily import/export operations, ensure compliance, and mitigate risks across multiple South American countries.

Key responsibilities

• Independently manage and direct daily import/export activities for South American markets, issuing instructions to customs agents via trade management systems.
• Verify complex customs and commercial documents (invoices, packing lists, BL/AWB) to guarantee regulatory compliance.
• Serve as primary liaison with customs agencies and regional logistics teams, resolving operational inquiries and handling customs declarations.
• Maintain auditable records of foreign trade operations, support internal and external audits, and prepare documentation for auditors.
• Consolidate data for performance reports, analyze KPIs, and drive continuous improvement.
• Identify and escalate documentary inconsistencies or compliance risks, contributing to SOP enhancements.
• Coach and review work of junior staff to ensure quality and consistency.

Required profile

• Senior Professional (P3) with advanced knowledge of Latin American import/export regulations.
• Significant experience handling customs documentation and ERP systems, particularly SAP.
• Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Foreign Trade, International Business, Logistics, or a related field.
