Design Engineer – Body Team (Automotive)

About the role

Join a global engineering leader to design, develop and validate automotive components for exterior systems, body‑in‑white structures and sealing‑glazing mechanisms. You will work across the vehicle development lifecycle, ensuring that designs meet performance, quality and cost objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Support design, development and validation of automotive exterior, body‑in‑white and sealing‑glazing components throughout the vehicle development lifecycle.
• Analyse engineering requirements, technical specifications, CAD models, drawings and GD&T to ensure performance, quality and cost targets are met.
• Participate in supplier technical reviews, design validation activities, benchmarking studies and problem‑solving initiatives to improve robustness and manufacturability.
• Assist with technical and cost evaluations, including basic cost assessments, design‑to‑cost studies and optimisation opportunities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Mechatronics, Industrial Design or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum three years of experience in automotive design, product development or technical engineering.
• Strong knowledge in at least one domain: exterior systems (fascias, spoilers, grilles, trim), body‑in‑white structures (sheet metal, welding assemblies) or lighting/sealing‑glazing mechanisms (headlamps, glass, latches).
• Understanding of automotive design principles, manufacturing processes, materials, DFMEA, DFM/DFA and product development methodologies.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications and CAD data.
• Advanced written and verbal English communication skills.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid setting in Santa Fe, Mexico City.
