Director of Finance – Hotel

About the role

The Director of Finance will lead the finance function of a hotel, working closely with the General Manager, owners and corporate office to deliver accurate and timely financial reporting, ensure compliance with local and international regulations, and protect company assets.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger reconciliation, monthly and quarterly sales tax filings, and timely preparation of monthly financial statements.
• Conduct balance‑sheet analysis, year‑end closings and budget preparation.
• Create and enforce finance policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Lead the Finance Department and collaborate with property management to maximize revenue, reduce expenses and achieve business goals.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, GAAP, USALI and GDPR requirements.
• Manage pre‑opening and renovation budgets for the hotel.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years progressive experience in hotel or hospitality finance, with at least 3 years in a leadership role such as Controller or Director of Finance.
• Experience as a Controller in Mexico and familiarity with internationally branded hotel operations.
• Strong background in Food & Beverage finance.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field; fluency in English and Spanish required.
• Knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, USALI and internal control frameworks.
• Experience with hotel pre‑opening and renovation budgeting is preferred.
