Engineer I – Product Design & Development

About the role

This position supports the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of products and engineering solutions. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams such as Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Product Management, and Engineering to ensure that products meet customer, regulatory, cost, and manufacturability requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Support design and development of new products, components, and engineering solutions.
• Create and maintain 3D models, engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
• Participate in design reviews, engineering change activities, and New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
• Assist in prototype development, validation, and production‑ready design verification.
• Conduct engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and GD&T verification.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to optimize designs for manufacturability and assembly.
• Investigate product performance issues and implement design improvements.
• Coordinate engineering changes through the ECR/ECO process and work with suppliers on component evaluation and problem resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Mechatronics Engineering or a related field.
• 0–3 years of experience in product design, development, or manufacturing (experience in a maquiladora environment is a plus).
• Basic knowledge of product design processes, materials, and manufacturing methods.
• Intermediate to advanced English communication skills preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, or Inventor.
• Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
• Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
