Financial Reporting & Accounting Policy Accountant

About the role

Moody's is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its Mexican Accounting team. You will be responsible for processing accounting transactions, ensuring compliance with Mexican GAAP and IFRS, and supporting the full spectrum of accounting activities for Moody's operations in Mexico.

Key responsibilities

• Process accounting transactions and prepare journal entries.
• Perform account analysis and reconciliations across General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Payroll, Taxes, T&E, Treasury, and audit functions.
• Support month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes.
• Ensure compliance with external regulations, internal policies, and internal controls.
• Identify and monitor key controls, risks, and compensating controls within assigned processes.
• Develop strong business understanding and maintain effective relationships with supporting teams.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience in accounting, tax, or audit environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
• Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Mexican GAAP and IFRS.
• Experience with SAP, PeopleSoft, or similar accounting systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Understanding of accounting processes: General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets, Payroll, Taxes, T&E, Treasury, Audit, and financial close.
• Familiarity with internal controls, risk assessment, and compliance requirements.
