Front Suspension Design Engineer

About the role

ALTEN is looking for a Front Suspension Design Engineer to lead the redesign of front suspension systems for next-generation electric vehicles. The role focuses on moving from transverse leaf springs to coil-over spring architectures while keeping compatibility with steering, driveline and chassis systems. It calls for a strong background in mechanical design, package integration and durability analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Develop conceptual and detailed designs for front suspension systems, including subframe and wheel-end components.
• Perform package studies to ensure compatibility with steering, driveline and chassis interfaces.
• Evaluate trade-offs between carryover, modified and new designs, focusing on cost, mass, durability and serviceability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (chassis, driveline, thermal) to align designs with vehicle-level requirements.
• Document assumptions, risks and interfaces to support decision-making.
• Lead design reviews and present technical recommendations to stakeholders.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in suspension/chassis design (automotive or EV industry).
• Fluent English, with technical communication across global teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced, multidisciplinary teams.
• Basic management skills: mentoring junior engineers, coordinating tasks and managing small projects.

Required skills

• CATIA V5/3DEXPERIENCE (mandatory for surface, assembly and drafting)
• Durability analysis, ride and handling, and torque steer mitigation
• Nice to have: EV architectures or electrified driveline systems, GD&T, and simulation tools such as ANSYS, ADAMS and MATLAB/Simulink
