Full Stack WordPress Developer

About the role

Skift is seeking a proactive Full Stack WordPress Developer to shape the technical direction of its digital platforms. You will work closely with development, editorial, and design teams to build high‑performance, secure WordPress sites that power the travel industry’s leading media properties.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain a suite of WordPress sites with a focus on back‑end architecture and performance.
• Create custom themes, post types, taxonomies, hooks, filters, and dynamic templates.
• Model structured content using Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) Pro.
• Integrate RESTful APIs and develop custom Gutenberg blocks.
• Utilize modern tooling such as wp‑scripts, Webpack, Composer, and BEM‑styled Sass.
• Collaborate with editorial and design teams to scope, build, and deploy new pages and features.
• Enforce WordPress performance, security, and coding standards, including WPVIP environments.
• Participate in code reviews and manage version control with Git and GitHub.

Required profile

• Demonstrated expertise in building hybrid WordPress themes and custom Gutenberg blocks.
• Strong back‑end skills with PHP 8+, MySQL, and REST API development.
• Front‑end competence in modern JavaScript (ES6+), jQuery, and CSS preprocessing.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and work asynchronously across time zones.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
