About the role
Mastercard is looking for a highly motivated Java Software Engineer to design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable payment and technology solutions that power global commerce. You will work within an Agile team on cloud‑native platforms while upholding Mastercard's standards for security, reliability, and performance.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain applications and services supporting Mastercard products and platforms.
- Own software delivery activities at the application and component level, including development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Build secure, scalable, and resilient cloud‑native solutions using AWS services.
- Develop and enhance RESTful APIs, microservices, and event‑driven architectures.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues across development, test, and production environments.
- Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices, secure coding standards, and software craftsmanship.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, SREs, QA Engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation using modern DevOps practices.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and observability capabilities to ensure operational excellence.
- Participate in on‑call rotations and support incident response activities when required.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Solid professional software development experience with Java and modern frameworks such as Spring Boot.
- Working knowledge of Ruby and experience with Ruby‑based applications or automation solutions.
- Experience designing and developing distributed systems and microservices.
- Hands‑on experience with AWS services (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, IAM, API Gateway, SNS/SQS).
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills in English.
