Jr. Dimensional Engineer

About the role

General Motors is looking for a Junior Dimensional Engineer to support design teams in creating manufacturable components and subsystems. You will work closely with senior designers, suppliers, and cross‑functional teams to ensure dimensional integrity and compliance with global standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist designers with component requirements, virtual integration, and design tasks.
• Develop, refine, and finalize criteria and sections in line with Design Standards, Best Practices, and global infoBOOK standards.
• Apply manufacturability, Design for Assembly, and integration knowledge to parts and subsystems.
• Lead or participate in design and virtual reviews, documenting material, mass, and part specifications.
• Perform NX analysis for subsystems and incorporate results with guidance from DLT or senior designers.
• Integrate component and subsystem designs into larger systems and ensure timely, high‑quality math releases.
• Communicate project status, timing, and technical issues proactively with Design Manager, DLT, and DRE.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any discipline) or a related field.
• Minimum 1 year of professional experience in dimensional engineering.
• Intermediate to advanced English proficiency for technical conversations.

Required skills

• Solid knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
• Understanding of ASME standards for dimensional tolerancing.
• Experience with tolerance analysis, fit‑up, and assembly issues.
• Proficiency in 3D design tools such as NX, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
• Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional team environments.
