Legal Counsel – Contracts & Compliance (Mexico)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Legal Counsel to join our team in Mexico. The role focuses on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of contracts while ensuring compliance with Mexican financial regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and service agreements, including financial contracts.
• Maintain compliance with CNBV, CONDUSEF, and Banxico regulations, covering AML/CFT, PEP screening, and internal policies.
• Manage corporate governance documents such as bylaws, board minutes, and powers of attorney.
• Advise on product structuring, debt restructuring (e.g., GICSA bonds), and financial instruments like mutual funds.
• Assist in recovery of delinquent credit accounts and support related litigation or enforcement actions.
• Handle regulatory filings, government communications, and support business expansion activities.
• Research and analyze industry regulations, prepare internal summaries, and provide compliance recommendations.
• Implement company internal rules, policies, and perform additional legal or compliance tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• Law degree with a valid professional license; JD or Master’s in Corporate/Financial Law preferred.
• 2–5 years of legal experience, preferably in the financial sector (banking, SOFOM, fintech).
• Familiarity with CNBV and CONDUSEF portals is a plus.
• Fluent in English and Spanish; Chinese proficiency is a bonus.
