Logistics Planner – Freight Routing & Trailer Utilization

About the role

The Logistics Planner is responsible for coordinating freight movements between our Northern and Southern centers and third‑party logistics (3PL) facilities. The role ensures on‑time delivery, maximizes trailer utilization, and meets rate‑per‑mile targets.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor inbound freight schedules for all centers and 3PL plants.
• Plan optimal routes and schedule trucks with approved carriers to minimize cost while meeting delivery commitments.
• Determine the number of trucks needed and maximize trailer space based on pallet positions.
• Coordinate oversized pickups that LTL carriers cannot handle.
• Follow up with LTL and line‑haul carriers to ensure timely pickup and delivery, communicating any delays to the relevant centers.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date computer records of shipments.
• Anticipate potential issues, propose corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or four years of experience in transportation, logistics, or supply chain.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
