Maintenance Assistant

About the role

The Maintenance Assistant supports the safe and efficient operation of the facility by performing routine upkeep of grounds, building systems, and equipment. Working under supervision, you will help ensure that the environment remains comfortable for residents and staff while complying with all relevant regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Follow daily maintenance schedules for assigned shifts and areas.
• Report all accidents, incidents, and equipment malfunctions promptly.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with nursing services in resident living areas.
• Perform routine grounds work such as cutting, trimming, sweeping, and snow removal.
• Carry out basic repairs on plumbing, electrical, carpentry, plastering, and mechanical systems.
• Replace burned‑out bulbs, clean windows, and service heating, ventilation, and air‑conditioning units.
• Maintain and restock maintenance supplies and ensure proper storage of tools.
• Attend departmental meetings and follow confidentiality policies regarding resident health information.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational training is a plus.
• Ability to follow written procedures and safety guidelines.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts and respond to unscheduled tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to resident comfort.
