Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

Flex is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join its Reynosa plant. You will support production lines, troubleshoot equipment, and drive continuous‑improvement projects that boost overall equipment effectiveness.

Key responsibilities

• Respond quickly to equipment failures, troubleshoot and restore production with minimal downtime.
• Lead and support continuous‑improvement projects aimed at increasing OEE and reducing downtime.
• Diagnose and resolve abnormal issues across integrated systems such as PLCs, vision, robotics, motion control and smart devices.
• Perform minor adjustments and tuning on validated lines (e.g., sensor replacement, control‑logic tuning).
• Support integration changes caused by equipment obsolescence or new smart equipment.
• Maintain and manage production automation software in SVN (LabVIEW, Beckhoff TwinCAT, SAIA PLC), applying version control to existing code.
• Apply a structured root‑cause analysis; when a software bug is identified, document it and provide feedback to the central PLC/control‑design team.
• Provide on‑site technical guidance and on‑the‑job training for production line staff.
• Strengthen plant‑to‑plant technical feedback loops to share learnings and avoid repeat issues.

Required profile

• Advanced English and clear communication in both English and Spanish.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation or a related engineering discipline.
• System‑level troubleshooting experience across PLC, vision, robotics, motion control and smart devices.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of PLC platforms (Beckhoff TwinCAT, SAIA).
• Proficiency with LabVIEW for diagnosis, tuning and minor adjustments.
• Experience with robotics and integrated automation systems.
• Familiarity with industrial protocols and networking (EtherCAT, Modbus).
• Knowledge of HMI/SCADA and motion‑control concepts.
• Ability to perform sensor replacement and control‑logic tuning.
• Version‑control experience with SVN.
• Root‑cause analysis and structured problem‑solving skills.
• Awareness of firmware and device‑compatibility challenges for smart equipment.
