Mechanical Engineer – Design of Compressor & Vacuum Skid Packages

About the role

Flowserve is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to develop complex 3‑D CAD designs and Bill of Materials for compressor and vacuum skid packages. The role involves translating engineering specifications into detailed drawings, ensuring compliance with global standards and safety directives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and prepare drawings, P&IDs, layouts and BOMs from engineering specifications.
• Review and interpret design specifications, select appropriate materials and components.
• Create manufacturing documents, SAP master data, and export control information.
• Validate functional feasibility with Product Engineering and Project Management.
• Operate 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks) and PLM system (Windchill) to produce and revise designs.
• Support customer‑specific calculations for steel construction and piping planning.
• Select and specify plant components (valves, instruments, pipes) for procurement.
• Ensure designs meet Machinery Directive, Explosion Protection, Pressure Equipment Directive, and other applicable standards.
• Prepare RFQs and review supplier technical offers.

Required profile

• Strong mechanical aptitude with meticulous attention to detail.
• Experience in designing skid‑mounted liquid‑ring vacuum pumps/compressors and associated equipment.
• Familiarity with HSE/HFE requirements and international engineering rulebooks.
• Ability to collaborate with internal and external engineering service providers.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (3D CAD) proficiency.
• Windchill PLM system usage.
• SAP master data creation.
• Knowledge of Machinery Directive, Explosion Protection, Pressure Equipment Directive.
• Creation of BOMs, P&IDs, and technical drawings.
• Performing steel construction and piping calculations.
