Packaging Engineer – Automotive

About the role

ZF, a global leader in driveline and chassis technology, is seeking a Packaging Engineer to support its Santa Rosa, Querétaro site. The role focuses on managing packaging data, inventory, and supplier interactions for automotive programs, ensuring compliance with customer standards such as Ford and VW.

Key responsibilities

• Create and maintain packaging master data in ERP systems (QAD/CEA), including updates for new programs and part numbers.
• Set up parameters for new programs, guaranteeing correct system configuration.
• Control packaging inventory, reconcile discrepancies, and monitor coverage versus MPS.
• Manage technical supplier data, upload waybills, and communicate packaging requirements (carton, thermoformed, returnable).
• Validate new packaging, engineering changes, and compliance with customer standards.
• Execute containment actions, close documentation, and support NPI/SOP launches.
• Analyze packaging flow issues, material shortages, and production impacts.
• Assist in problem‑solving, supplier corrective actions, line‑stop analysis, and evaluation of alternative packaging solutions.

Required profile

• Engineering degree relevant to packaging or automotive.
• Minimum 3 years of packaging engineering experience in the automotive industry.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
• Conversational English.

Required skills

• Experience with ERP systems, specifically QAD and SAP.
